BUSINESS LICENSE RENEWAL AND ADVERTISEMENT FOR KOTA TINGGI DISTRICT COUNCIL
- For business and advertisement license renewals, licensees need to ensure that their business premises have no property tax arrears. Checking arrears can be done via the PBTPay and JohorPay websites, then a current property tax bill or checking with a local counter officer.
- In line with the implementation of the validity period of business licenses and advertisements on a 'date to date basis', the implementation of license renewal for the year 2025 can be made as early as three (3) months before the annual license expiration date without any penalty for late license renewal through the Health & Licensing Department Counter and the Southeast City Branch Counter (Tuesday and Thursday: 9.00 am to 1 pm).
- The late license renewal penalty is imposed on the license owner cumulatively every month if the renewal is made after the expiration of the business license validity period with the permission to extend the license renewal period is only for two (2) months from the expiration date of the license validity period. The penalty rate is imposed at 10% of the business license rate for each month of late renewal. The penalty is imposed every month for the next license renewal extension period without any consideration of appeals for reduction or exemption from being imposed a penalty.
- Every license fee that has been paid to the Council cannot be reclaimed as per the provisions in the Trade, Business & Industrial Licensing By-Laws (MDKT) 2017 existing in the UUK.
- The license will be revoked if the license owner fails to pay for the license renewal for the year 2024 within the specified period, referring to the Trade, Business and Industrial Licensing By-Laws (MDKT) 2017.
- Caretakers must use biodegradable container alternatives and not use polystyrene in the food packaging process and provide plastic straws only based on customer request. It is encouraged not to offer the use of single-use plastic in sales transactions. It is an offence to violate the license conditions and may be subject to action under UUK13(2) of the Trade, Business and Industrial Licensing By-Laws (MDKT) 2017.
